Lost property
Lost property is held at the library desk.
Fire safety
When the fire alarm sounds, please leave the library immediately by the nearest signed exit. Do not stop to collect coats, books or bags. The History Faculty assembly point is near Lady Mitchell Hall.
Library rules
- No items may be borrowed without a valid University Card.
- Books can be returned when the library is closed using the book chute in the lobby or letterbox near the Faculty front door
- A fine of £30.00 is imposed for each lost or damaged loan and is not refundable if the item is subsequently returned.
- Bags can be taken into the library but the Faculty is not responsible for any loss, damage or theft of personal property.
- Smoking is not permitted in the library.
- The library is a quiet study area so any necessary conversation should be kept to a minimum.
- No photography is allowed in the library without permission from library staff.
- Children under the age of sixteen are not allowed into the Library except on authorised visits.
Any breach of these rules may lead to temporary or permanent exclusion from the library. The Librarian may also exclude anyone whose behaviour in the library is inappropriate.
