Theory and Practice in History and Politics

‘Theory and Practice in History and Politics’ is a core paper for all Part II History and Politics students. Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for students to reflect on what they have learnt across the three years of the degree, and to apply their knowledge to broad thematic questions which cut across the two disciplines – for instance, about the nature of democracy, human rights, violence, and revolution, and the ways in which theories about these concepts relate to empirical evidence (or practice).
