At a ceremony in Berlin, Regius Professor of History Chris Clark presented the laudatio for Chancellor Angela Merkel, who was awarded the Walther Rathenau Prize.

Merkel received the prize—a gold medal with the portrait of the foreign minister of the Weimar Republic—from the Walther Rathenau Institute on November 5. The award recognized her lifetime achievement in foreign policy.

“We must never let up in our commitment to peace and understanding and against hatred, violence, nationalism, racism and anti-Semitism,” said Chancellor Merkel.
