Democracy: A Century of crises - and triumphs?

Sixty-six scholars including twelve volume editors coordinated by Eugenio Biagini, as General Editor, have produced this innovative history of democracy. Built around ten themes – the same throughout the series – these six volumes explore democracy and its cultures, from antiquity to the present.  Few other histories match this Bloomsbury set in terms of its concern both with the institutions integral to democratic governance and with the cultures of race, ethnicity, gender, and religion that have so powerfully influenced democratic practice.

Join Paul Cartledge, Niraja Gopal Jayal, Ira Katznelson, and Fintan O’Toole for a Zoom discussion of volume 6, A Cultural History of Democracy in the Modern Age, with its editors, Eugenio Biagini and Gary Gerstle.
