Saul Yardley

PhD Student
Having studied my undergraduate and Master's degree in War Studies at King's College London, I have come to Cambridge to complete a PhD focusing on the intersection between political thought, philosophy, and geopolitics in the 18th century.
My focus for the first few years of my studies was military and political history, but I have become progressively more interested in how changes in philosophical thought have impacted the conduct of politics on a national and international level. In order to demonstrate the intersection of these concepts, I have focused my research on the mid 18th century in Britain and France, particularly the Seven Years War.
I have taught for 2 years as a GTA at King's College London in the War Studies department, with experience teaching classes focusing on war in the 20th century, the Causes of War, the conduct of modern statecraft and diplomacy, as well as a general introductory module looking at changes in the international system since 1648. I have twice been nominated as GTA of the year, and won this award one of those times.
