Professor Biagini elected to Academy of Science in Bologna

The History Faculty are delighted to add our congratulations to Prof Eugenio Biagini, Professor of Modern and Contemporary History, who has been elected a Corresponding Member of the Accademia delle Scienze dell'Istituto di Bologna, Established in 1680, this is the second-oldest academy in Italy. Professor Biagini’s citation reads:

'Prof. Eugenio Biagini has distinguished himself in his academic career as a modern and contemporary historian. His work is characterised by striking originality and depth, has innovated already consolidated disciplines and opened up new horizons. His presence among the Academicians of Bologna will be an honour for our ancient Institution.'

Prof Biagini has been a member of the Faculty since 1985, with affiliations spanning Sidney Sussex, Churchill and Robinson colleges.  He is a world-renowned historian of Ireland, liberalism, religious and ethnic minorities and the Italian Risorgimento.
