One Cambridge historian is giving way to another this month as President of the Historical Association (HA), the national charity for history.  Peter Mandler has served in this role since 2020;  Alex Walsham starts her own three-year term after the organization’s AGM this month.  The HA plays many roles for the historical community in this country – it represents teachers of history in schools, at both primary and secondary level, it liaises between historians in schools and higher education, and its 40+ branches around the country organize talks for the general public and bring together at the local level the lively and diverse group of people who do historical work in libraries, archives, museums, local history societies and who just keep the love of history alive in their communities.  The HA was founded in 1906;  its goal is simply stated as advancing ‘the history of all for all’.
