Faculty of History joins Early American Studies consortium

News

The Cambridge Faculty of History is pleased to announce that we have joined the consortium hosted by the McNeil Center for Early American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. This induction marks the consortium’s transformation into an international body, as Cambridge is the first member based outside the United States.

Since 1978, the McNeil Center has facilitated scholarly inquiry into the histories and cultures of North America in the Atlantic world before 1850. The Center offers pre- and post-doctoral fellowships and access to the Philadelphia area’s magnificent manuscript, rare book, and museum collections. MCEAS also conducts a seminar series to promote intellectual community both locally and on Zoom, and hosts conferences to foster interdisciplinary work. To disseminate the best new scholarship in the field, the McNeil Center publishes Early American Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal and sponsors the Early American Studies monograph series published by the University of Pennsylvania Press. Membership in the consortium offers Cambridge students and staff access to the University of Pennsylvania library resources, undergraduate research workshops, MCEAS Consortium Dissertation Fellowships for PhD students, eligibility for summer internship programs and faculty fellowships, and more.

We look forward to collaborating with the Consortium’s faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates in McNeil Center programming in years to come.
