News

On Oct 5th, the History Faculty is co-hosting with Murray Edwards College a film screening of Invisible Warriors, which explores the lives of African American ‘Rosie the Riveters’ during and after World War Two.

Director Gregory Cooke will join Anglia Ruskin University’s Professor Lucy Bland to discuss the film after the screening.

Bland’s work on the history of African American GIs in World War Two Britain has uncovered the experiences of the 2000 babies born to Black GI fathers and white British mothers, around half of whom were given up to children’s homes. Britain’s Brown Babies won the 2021 Social History Book Prize.

The History Faculty invites all students and alumni to attend this free screening, supported by the Mellon Fund, at Murray Edwards College, 5.30pm.
