Ancient and Medieval History
Subject group
Convenor : Professor Rosamond McKitterick
The University of Cambridge was first established in 1209 by a group of scholars fleeing authorities in Oxford, and its oldest college, Peterhouse, was founded in 1284. Both its great antiquity, and the richness of its medieval manuscripts in the University and College Libraries and surviving medieval buildings, make Cambridge an ideal place to study medieval history. Ancient and Medieval history forms an integral part of the teaching and research in the Cambridge History Faculty. It is taught at undergraduate and graduate level.
