Term Dates and Residence Requirements

Term Dates and Residence Requirements

The academic year in Cambridge is divided into three terms, Michaelmas (starting in October), Lent (starting in January) and Easter (starting in April).

Lectures are normally taught during 'full-term' although graduate students are typically expected to be resident in Cambridge for the duration of their programme, and must meet the University's Residence Requirements

Please see the following website for term dates: http://www.cam.ac.uk/about-the-university/term-dates-and-calendars

Oral Examination (when necessary):

The grading of the MPhil dissertations takes at the end of June. Students should make themselves available for the oral examination (if necessary) in the last week of June, at a date communicated to them in advance.

Degree Ceremony (optional):

Degree results are normally available by mid to late July, in time for successful candidates to receive their degrees at the July Congregation of the Senate House. Arrangements for Graduation are made via your College. Some further information can be found on the University's Graduation pages.
