Heather Thompson, 2019-2020 Pitt Professor of American History and Institutions, University of Cambridge, and Professor of History and Afroamerican and African Studies, University of Michigan, will deliver her Inaugural Lecture:

American Prison Uprisings and Why They Matter Today.

The lecture will take place at 5:00pm in the Cripps Court Auditorium, Magdalene College. There will be a wine reception after the lecture in Cripps Garden Room, just outside the auditorium.

Professor Thompson is one of the leading authorities on the history of mass incarceration in America. Her 2016 book, Blood in the Water: The Attica Uprising of 1971 and its Legacy, won the Pulitzer and Bancroft Prizes.
