A discussion event exploring the research of Faculty members (staff and students) relevant to the recently-announced initiative by the Vice Chancellor on the University's historical links with slavery and coerced labour under colonialism.

The meeting will discuss the histories of coerced labour/ slavery; the role of race and racism in histories of coerced labour; and the legacies of these histories today, especially for institutional inequalities and for access to higher education.

Do join us for a wide-ranging conversation in the Lady Mitchell Hall, Sidgwick Site.

This event is independent of the central university's initiative and will be hosted by the History Faculty with some opening words from Prof Tim Harper, Chair of the Faculty.

All are welcome to attend.
