Research Interests

My research interests concern the intersection of ideas, religion and politics in early modern England and Europe. My PhD research examines Renaissance humanism in England, c.1490 - c.1530. By moving away from individuals and topics which are so well-known to scholars, and considering the activities of figures who have garnered little attention (or little attention as humanists), it explores the wider spread of humanism in early Tudor England, and provides new insights into its character and preoccupations.

Teaching

I offer supervisions in the following papers:

Part I: Paper 4 British Political History, 1485–1714

Part I: Paper 19 (POL7) Political thought to c.1700

I also teach seminars on intellectual and religious history for Historical Argument and Practice (HAP) in Clare College.
