Models of Authority: Scottish Charters and the Emergence of Government 1100-1250

Dr Teresa Webber is a co-investigator in this AHRC-funded project.

She is undertaking a palaeographical analysis of the script of Scottish royal and other charters as part of a collaborative study (with colleagues from the University of Glasgow and King's College London) that seeks to establish the part played by these documents in the development of royal government in Scotland, and especially how they functioned (as physical artefacts and carriers of text) in communicating royal authority.

The project website can be found at http://www.modelsofauthority.ac.uk/ including a 'Feature of the Month' for November 2015 by Dr Webber at http://www.modelsofauthority.ac.uk/blog/handwriting/
