Description:

The Modern British History workshop is intended for all grads researching British history from 1700 onwards. We hope to provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere where grads can present their research and try out new papers, and receive constructive feedback from other grads.

The workshop meets at 6pm on alternate Mondays in Keynes Seminar Room 1, King's. The programme for Easter Term 2012 is as follows:

23rd April: Michael Taylor,  'Race, racism, and civilization in British proslavery, 1823-33'.

7th May: Martin Theaker, 'The Social Response to the First Atomic Power Stations in Britain'.

21st May: Jess Hammett, 'The Communication of Historical Memory: Journalistic and Individual Narratives of the Second World War during the 70th Anniversary of the London Blitz'.

4th June: Sundeep Lidher, 'Commonwealth citizens of colour and the evolution of immigration policy in Britain 1945-1962'.
