American history
The American History workshop, which normally meets weekly during Michaelmas and Lent terms and fortnightly during Easter term, focuses on any topic in colonial American or United States history, from the sixteenth century to the twentieth. Workshop papers include, but are by no means limited to, issues arising from culture, diplomacy, economics, environment, gender, politics, race, and religion. The papers, which participants are expected to have read ahead of time, are distributed a week in advance of the presentation. A lead commentator will comment on the paper for 5-10 minutes; 50 minutes of discussion then follows.
All meetings take place Tuesdays, 7pm-8pm, SRB, in the Faculty of History. 1. If you have any questions, please contact either Elizabeth Shermer at ets26@cam.ac.uk or (7)66590; or Suzanne Donovan, Secretary to the Mellon Professor, at sd559@cam.ac.uk.
